JAMES BROOKS
PARTNER • LONG BEACH
James currently focuses his practice on federal transportation and shipping disputes in California. He is a tremendous trial lawyer who provides clients with comprehensive representation and a vigorous defense from filing to verdict.
Prior to joining Collier Walsh Nakazawa, James developed significant legal experience in both public and private sectors. In private practice, James represented several Fortune 500 transportation companies and served as national counsel for Korea's largest multinational conglomerate chemical corporation. He has defended against claims and lawsuits involving complex product liability, catastrophic injury, property damages, wrongful death, and the Federal Employers'
Liability Act (FELA). He has also provided extensive legal
consultation on Federal and State regulatory compliance, industry standards, and litigation strategies. In his public practice, James served as a Deputy Attorney for the City of San Diego where he defended against civil liability matters, advised City Council and the Mayor in open and closed sessions, and assisted in the drafting of law enforcement policies and procedures.
James' proactive approach to litigation allows him to advise and preemptively avoid potential legal conflict, or to resolve disputes in the early stages of the process with favorable results. When necessary, he has also successfully co-chaired several jury and bench trials to verdict in both State and Federal Court.
Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, has consistently recognized James as a "Rising Star" (2015-2021)
